OnePlus 7T Full ReviewOnePlus 7T Full Review

Peter Parker's uncle rightly said that "great power comes with great responsibility." With a smartphone, it's more like "high expectations coming with more prices." And no one knows this better than OnePlus - the self-titled 'flagship killer.' However, there has been a paradigm shift this year from a Chinese smartphone maker. Not one introduced - as it always does - but at the same time two smartphones: OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro. While the former is still the torch of the company's motto, OnePlus 7 Pro believes the same the handset is a premium smartphone offering with some of the best features at the price of some slightly steep hills. The base variants differ by two handsets at Rs 16,000 which means that there is a clear difference in the basic market segment while one is buying the best OnePlus. OnePlus 7 Pro is available but smartphones can pump everyone can pay an additional Rs 16,000.
Enter OnePlus 7T. Just like any 'T' model, OnePlus 7T also upgrades to OnePlus 7. If compared to now there is always a handset that comes with because we can only compare its former variant. At this time, however, we have the OnePlus 7 Pro as well and the OnePlus 7T as well. The OnePlus 7T has been priced between just OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro starting at Rs 37,999. We spent some time with the device and here's what we think of it.

OnePlus 7T Design:

In terms of design, OnePlus retained and OnePlus 7T has changed a few features. The handset looks similar to the OnePlus 7. When it comes with the same water drop and a flat screen as the OnePlus 7, the panel behind the matte-frosted Glacier Blue colour variant looks similar to the OnePlus 7 Pro. The biggest change, though, is the inclusion of a circular camera setup on the back.

Last year, OnePlus opted for a vertical camera setup for dual sensors and OnePlus 7 Pro chose to stick to a similar design for the triple camera setup that was launched earlier this year. Now, the company has opted for a rigorous design change with the 'T' model handset - something that OnePlus has never normally refrained from its handset, the practice of that T-series. The circular rim is placed in the middle of the smartphone and though quite outclassed, its placement or sheer size does not shake the device. The camera module houses three sensors, with LED flash. Other than that, you get the OnePlus logo in the middle and the branding at the bottom.

Moving on to the sides, the device houses the volume rocker keys on the left edge and you have the power button and the volume slider on the right edge. The bottom edge has a USB-C port and dual SIM card tray - yes there is still no support for extended storage from OnePlus, as it jumps to the 3.5mm jack.
Coating on the glass front and back gives the OnePlus premium look. Matte-frosted back again it's the cherry on top we've seen on OnePlus 7 Pro.

OnePlus 7T Display:

OnePlus 7T is a 6.55-inch amoled screen of 2400 x 1080 resolution; Span up to 20 aspect ratios: 9. In the OnePlus 7T, with a 90Hz refresh rate HDR10 + support - a little addictive - you get much appreciation. For those who don't know, in plain speak, the 90Hz refresh rate on smartphones makes everything easier. Switching apps, navigation, gaming, watching videos - all that you do on the smartphone screen is just snappier.

Compared to the OnePlus 7, the cuts on the OnePlus 7T are relatively low but still here. The screen size is barely smaller than the OnePlus 7 Pro now, but it has the same pixel density as the OnePlus 7. Since both the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro aced in the display section, it is quite clear that you have an idea as well as amazing with the OnePlus 7T. The viewing experiences. The color reproduction and contrast level are perfectly top notch.

Highly standard and self-explanatory features - Under display settings, you get customized features such as adaptive brightness, night mode, read mode.

OnePlus 7T Performance:

OnePlus has always launched its handset with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and that is the case with OnePlus 7T. The handset is powered by the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus Society which is said to be an improvement over the 855 Society in terms of graphics performance. It is an octa core 7nm chipset with 2.96GHz clock speed with Qualcomm artificial engine support. For the average smartphone user, the difference is clear but you're not going to get the best processor for Android handsets with OnePlus 7T. You also get only one 8GB RAM model to get it, but two choices in terms of storage - 128GB and 256GB - both of which can satisfy the UFS 3.0 storage speed.

Handless handset to say there were no complaints from day-to-day operation. The handset snappily works on your commands, opening applications that switch between them, browsing the Internet for hours with various applications running in the background.

OnePlus' The Pursuit is one of the most advanced specs / features even the software department offers. OnePlus 7T is the first smartphone to ship with the latest Android 10 operating system update with Oxygen OS 10 UI custom level. You get all the Android 10 features like dark mode, Google's gesture controls and more. There is also a new customization menu that lets you change the theme, text color, icon shape and font. You also get digital goodies as part of the latest OS which was basically unlocked device number and screen time, as you say data.
With all the hardware and software prowess, the OnePlus 7T is a performance energy resource. That means the audio uses speakers at the bottom and earpieces that are loud enough to create a stereo audio experience. But the gaming experience with games like PUBG and Asphalt 9 was definitely fun.

OnePlus 7T Camera:

Just as has been the case above, the OnePlus 7T features both OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro cameras as well. First, the OnePlus 7T has the Pro Model pop-up set apart from the photo camera, as the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro are the same. You get detailed but soft images, even when beauty mode is off.

On the back, you get a 48MP Sony IMX586 primary camera with 1.6 um pixel size, 7p lens glass, OIS, EIS and f / 1.6 hole. This one comes with an upgraded 12MP telephoto camera (2x optical zoom) 16mm ultra-wide-angle lens with 1um pixel size and f / 2.2 hole and f / 2.2 hole and 117-degree FOV. Camera app on OnePlus 7T lets you easily toggle switch between wide angle lens (0.6x), primary lens (1x) and optical zoom (2x) lens that is right on the main screen. In order to click images in 48MP mode, you have to select JPG 48MP then head over to JPG Pro mode - a process we wish were as easy as switching between the three lenses.

As far as image quality is concerned, you might think that it's not there with iPhones and pixels in the world, but that doesn't mean it's safe to say you're compromising anything.

Daylight Shot starts with almost all the shots that turn out to be vivid and bright - with just the right amount of color reproduction. The telephoto lens is also able to detect the difference between a certain foreground and background. The ultra wide angle camera, though lacks detail with distortion in daytime shots. Moving on to low light shots, the primary lens will work well for you not complaining about the overall dynamic range. Nightscape mode obviously plays that role. With this OnePlus handset, you get on as well as using Nightscape mode on an ultra-wide-angle sensor which is now obviously a welcome addition. However, telephoto lenses are still less of a night scape mode so images are not as good as the idea you get with the other two lenses but if they are captured for posting on social media they will work.

OnePlus 7T is a new addition super macro mode. It uses an ultra-wide camera to capture this shot after suggesting that you should stand at a distance of 2.5cm to 8cm from the subject. The images captured a good amount of detail especially in this mode due to the auto bokeh-mode not enabled.

OnePlus 7T Battery:

OnePlus has also slightly bumped up the battery from  3700mAh to OnePlus 7 Pro's 3800mAh. It has also introduced that the raOnePlus 7p charge is called 30T, only 30 minutes and handset charge from 70% zero during our test, it only succeeded to interest 65% in the same time period, which is quite close to claim.

Depending on the medium separation for consumption or heavy, you get a full day usage for a charger without running every few hours. The good thing about fast charging is that even if you plug it in, you can be sure that a charge time of 5-10 minutes will cover you for the next couple of hours. OnePlus continues to provide one of the best overall battery experiences on the market.

OnePlus 7T Verdict:

OnePlus 7T is a special phone in the sense that it falls right between OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro. At 37.999 rupees, its price is also one bang for the OnePlus 7 (Rs 32,999) and OnePlus 7 Pro (Rs 48,999). OnePlus boasts a different design this smartphone because with its T-series has been shied away from its usual strategy of offering enhanced upgrades.

You get the OnePlus 7 Pro flat screen design, FullHD + display, 90Hz display, triple rear camera setup, matte-frosted back panel, among other things to cut the water drop for the camera. Although the company had to reduce the size of the cuts, it did not get rid of it as it did with OnePlus 7 Pro. Which is now going to be the OnePlus 7T Pro - perhaps OnePlus still wants to hold back some of the features for its super premium handset.

If it comes down to those who should buy this handset, then it doesn't make sense for both OnePlus 7 or OnePlus 7 Pro users. Give it a miss if you have those two smartphones. However, the device offers two handsets best, we think this is the best option to buy right now.
