How To Schedule WhatsApp Messages on Your Android Device

WhatsApp has a ton of good features but one thing that is still missing is the ability to schedule messages on WhatsApp. If you want to wish someone on their birthday or any other events send a message only during working hours, scheduling messages to help a lot, rather than pinging someone in the middle of the night. There are ways to schedule messages on WhatsApp on both Android and iPhone, but both are workarounds as this feature is not officially supported on WhatsApp.
How To Schedule WhatsApp Messages on Your Android Device

Since the methods we are suggesting are workarounds, there are some limitations, which we will explain a little bit. Here's the way to plan messages in WhatsApp on Android phones and iPhones.

Schedule Whatsapp Message On Android Phones

As we mentioned above, WhatsApp does not have an official facility for scheduling messages. However, if you are using an Android smartphone, you can schedule messages with the help of several third-party applications on WhatsApp. Yes, many third-party apps promise to work, but only one - SKEDit - does it perfectly. Follow these steps to schedule a WhatsApp message on Android.
  1. Go to Google Play Store then download and install the SKEDit app and open application.
  2. On the first launch, you have to Sign Up.
  3. Once you Sign In, you have to tap WhatsApp on the main menu.
  4. On the next screen, you have to give permission. Enable Null Accessibility - SKEDit - Use Service - Allow on a toggle. Now, return to the application.
  5. Now you have to fill the details. Add Recipients, Enter Your Message, set a schedule date and time, and choose whether you want to repeat the scheduled message.
  6. Below, you will see one last toggle - ask me before sending it. Toggle it on -- Tap on the Tick icon - Now your message will be scheduled. Whenever the day and time of your scheduled message arrives, you will receive a notification on your phone asking you to complete the action. Tap the message and you will see your scheduled message being sent in real-time.
  7. However, if you ask me before sending the toggle, in that case when you tap on the tick icon, you will be asked to disable the screen lock of your phone. You will also be asked to disable your phone's battery optimization.
  8. When doing so, your scheduled message will be sent automatically, meaning that you will not be asked to provide any input over the phone, thus speeding up the process. But again, not having a screen lock affects the privacy of your phone, which is a major drawback. This is why we would not recommend scheduling messages in WhatsApp in this way.

Schedule Whatsapp Message In iPhone

Unlike Android, there is no third-party app available on iOS, through which you can schedule WhatsApp messages. However, on the iPhone, there is another way to do this process via the Siri shortcut, an Apple app that will rely on automation to send your WhatsApp messages at a certain time. Here you need to schedule WhatsApp messages on iPhone.
  1. Go to the App Store and download the Shortcut App on your iPhone and open it.
  2. Select the Automation Tab at the bottom.
  3. Tap the + icon in the upper-right corner and tap Create Personal Automation.
  4. On the next screen, set the time for your automation to run. For this situation, select the dates and times when you need to plan WhatsApp messages. Once this is done, tap Next.
  5. Tap Add, and then in the search bar type text and from the list of actions that appear, select the text.
  6. After that, enter your text message in the iPhone text field. This message is anything you desire to plan, for example, 'Happy Wedding Anniversary'.
  7. After entering your message, tap the + icon below the text field and look in the search bar of WhatsApp.
  8. From the list of options that appears, choose to Send Messages via WhatsApp. Select Recipient and hit Next. At long last, on the following screen, tap Done.
  9. Now at the scheduled time, you will get a notification from the shortcut app. Tap on the notification and it will paste WhatsApp in the text field with your message. You should simply hit the send.

Another note is that you can only schedule messages in WhatsApp for a week, which is kind of a bummer, but at least you now know how to schedule messages for at least a week.

If that is too small a limit for you, then you can always try this one. This is one of the most complex Siri Shortcuts we have ever seen but it schedules WhatsApp messages for any date and time if you configure it properly. It works well on one of our iPhones but crashes on the other, so your mileage may vary with this one. However, we were able to schedule a message using both methods so that you can choose the one you like.
